Sunday Services – 10 a.m.

Here's what to expect when you come to Appleby United Church on Sunday morning.

As 10 a.m. nears, people begin to gather filling the building with activity. The Choir has one final practice, the "Brew Crew" puts the coffee on, ushers and greeters take their places at the doors, and the Appleby Church family comes together once again to worship.

The service begins with a welcome from our Minister and announcements from members of the congregation. Then we light the Christ candle as a way to remind everyone to open themselves to the love and grace of God that is celebrated in worship.

You'll have many opportunities to listen to inspiring music and lift your voice in song. The words to hymns and the scripture reading passages are helpfully projected at the front of the church.

Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month and Baptisms are held as required, usually on the fourth Sunday.

After the service, everyone is welcome to enjoy coffee and tea in the hall. In the summer months we have lemonade out on the lawn. If you're looking to make connections and find out more about the life and work of the church, this social time after the service is a great opportunity.

We promise you will receive a warm welcome when you make yourself known to the greeters, people sitting near you, and the Minister.

Do you want your children to learn about what it means to live in God’s world?

Your children are very welcome at Appleby and we are continually evolving our programs as the needs of the congregation change. Pew packages are available containing activities to keep your child happily occupied during the service.

We have a Family Space in the chapel at the back of the sanctuary. It is available for use throughout the service so that children and parents can stay in the service together. All ages are welcome and every voice is valued.

Do you think the Bible needs to be made relevant in today’s world?

Our Minister’s informal, interactive, out-of-the pulpit messages engage the congregation, relating the age-old Bible stories to every day life in the modern world.
