YOUTH OUTREACH WORKERS
This Wesley program focuses on at-risk youth, ages 12-21, who live in priority communities and who may experience increased barriers in accessing opportunities that can help them to make healthy life choices and achieve their goals. The funding for this program has not increased in 15 years and Wesley needs financial support to continue having four outreach workers. These mobile YOWs provide their services in an informal, unstructured setting. They wear red shirts so they can be identified in the community and they work on helping youth connect with services and receive counselling, etc., in a way that more institutionalized programs can’t do.
