Social & Community Groups

There is a lot of activity taking place in our Church building during the week as various groups from within and outside the church use our property as a place to meet.  We are always pleased to welcome our neighbours and community members into the church.  Community groups interested in renting our facilities should contact the office at 905-637-2942 or applebyoffice@applebychurch.ca

The Morning Glories

The Morning Glories fellowship group meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month in the Parlour from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. Typical meetings start with a devotion, followed by a brief business report. We celebrate birthdays and then enjoy an interesting program, while enjoying refreshments and fellowship. The Morning Glories women continue to support and maintain contact with the greater United Church Women through their payment of annual dues to the Halton Presbyterial UCW. All are welcome.

Monday Morning Coffee Hour

All are welcome to join us for refreshments and fellowship in the Church Parlour on Mondays. This is a very informal gathering.

Cubs and Scouts

15th Strathcona is a “full-service” Scouting Group which meets in Appleby's Church Hall. It runs programs for male and female youth from ages 5-26 using all of Scouts Canada’s five core programs. In total, more than 60 youth are supported by 23 volunteers in achieving Scouts Canada’s mission “to contribute to the education of young people, through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Law, to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society”. For more information, contact Don Stewart - Group Commissioner, 15th Strathcona Scouts at scouterdon15@lycos.com

Euchre

Euchre is held on Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. in the Breckon Room. Partners are not required and nine tables are usually available.

Muppets Preschool

The Muppets Preschool runs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:30-11:45  am for children ages 2.5 to 5 years of age (children must be 2.5 by September 1st). Being a co-operative establishment, Muppets is organized and administered by the parents. Under the direction of trained teachers, parents participate in the classroom creating a memorable experience for all.

When the interest arises from the community, Muppets offers a Friday morning program to compliment the 3-day program. Circle time consists of “French Fridays” and incorporates basic French into songs, stories, and every day objects (such as food for snack time). Friday class has a smaller class size (maximum of 12 children) and preference for enrollment goes to children enrolled in the 3 morning program.
